I am a bastard
But I'm so lovely
yeah I'm so lovely.
See me walking down the street
blinkers on my eyes
there might be other people out there
but I don't realise.
All I want's a warm coocoon
that I can crawl inside.
And why are you bothering me,
can't you see I'm busy?
I'd really like to help you out ..... but,
just not today.
I'd really like to help you out,
but for now just go away.
I've got to look at my reflection
in the window as I walk by,
make sure my hair's ok.
I am the cleverest guy you'll meet today,
so in my radiance just bathe.

When I was a teenager, I believed that I was a good person. I think I even thought this into my early twenties. A realisation that I've had in the past few years is that I am, at heart, not a good person. I guess that's part of being human - we're selfish, vain, and tend to tell ourselves that "I was definitely in the right."

Depth and darkness
This is a song for those that think that there must be something more
a trinket; a charlatan leaves a lingering doubt
a stale breeze echoes through your cobwebbed caverns
There's a depth and a darkness you've never seen.
You wear a watch that you've never seen running
you've not looked 'neath the rug in your dining room
what goes on behind neighbours' closed doors?
There´s a depth and a darkness you´ve never seen.
Beneath the sheen of your social veneer
beneath your manicured nails
are hunger and thirst, greed and hate
tempered only by a thread of guilt
There´s a depth and a darkness you´ve never seen.

Moral ground
Here in the rat race, weaving and ducking,
I've got a plan, I can't linger:
I'm looking 'round, for my high moral ground,
And when I get there, I'll get me a big finger.
I drove a truck for the last ten years,
but couldn't handle life's demands
now I wonder what the future holds,
water falling through our hands.
Don't talk about economy,
let's remember ancestry.
Now I've got my castle built,
I hate the building industry.
Beware my acid-tongue, you vile infection,
there's one thing our ruling mediocrity failed to mention.
Oh, you who live in sycophancy just
to be elected for a new day:
One cannot replace in man, by law,
the morals that we lost along the way.

I wrote this in 2006. It's about double-standards.
I have recorded this, but it's rough and is not on the internet. If you're really keen to hear it, please contact me and I'll send you a copy.
